A bulbous perennial with glossy, strap-shaped, bright green basal leaves and, from late spring into summer, sturdy, erect stems bearing large, dense, rounded umbels of dark purple flowers.
Height 1.2m (4ft), Spread 50cm (1.5ft), 2-5 years to maturity.
