An upright, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with narrowly ovate to lance-shaped, rarely toothed, rough-hairy, dark green leaves and, throughout summer, dark stems bearing green-tipped, bright pink flowers with orange-brown central cones.
Height 1m (3ft), Spread 50cm (1.5ft), 2-5 years to maturity.
