Abies nordmanniana (Nordmann Fir Potted Christmas Tree)

A noble species of great ornamental value. A large to very large tree reaching 50-60m (164-196ft) in it's native habitats, with tiered branches sweeping downwards. Winter buds reddish-brown. Leaves 2-3cm (0.5-1in) long, shining green above, marked with 2 white bands beneath, densely arranged on the branchlets, pointing forwards and overlapping above, pectinate below. Cones 15-20cm (6-10in) long, greenish when young. A very satisfactory, generally disease-resistant species. Native to West Caucasus and North Turkey. Requires a deep, moist soil for best development.
Height 30m (98ft), Spread 6m (20ft), 20-50 years to maturity.
