Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea' (Copper/Purple Beech)

 

A large deciduous tree with rounded purple-red leaves which turn coppery in autumn. This tree does make a massive statement and is one that's quite commonly seen. It also works well in a hedge where purple and green beech alternate.
Height 20m (66ft), Spread 15m (49ft), 20-50 years to maturity.
