An upright, clump-forming perennial with aromatic, lance-shaped, mid-green leaves, purple stems and, from midsummer to early autumn, whorls of lipped, red-purple flowers surrounded by purple bracts.
Height 1m (3ft), Spread 50cm (1.5ft), 2-5 years to maturity.
