syn. Acer palmatum 'Sango-Kaku'
A beautiful deciduous shrub or small tree with coral red young branches. Fresh orange-yellow leaves in spring followed by green leaves in summer against the coral red of the bark. The smooth, older wood is creamy grey. In the autumn the leaves turn a soft canary yellow, in bright contrast to the colour of the young wood which remains bright red through winter. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil.
Height 6m (20ft), Spread 5m (16ft), 10-20 years to maturity.
