An aromatic perennial with linear, upright, bright-green leaves, hollow stems bearing umbels of bell-shaped, white flowers in summer, and a large, ovoid bulb comprised of edible bulblets enclosed in a papery, white sheath.
Height 50cm (1.5ft), Spread 20cm (8in), 2-5 years to maturity.
