Prunus serrula (Birch Bark Cherry/Tibetan Cherry)

A small tree with great bark that is polished red-brown mahogany looking. The flowers are small and white, opening with the light-green young foliage in April which darkens into summer. If it is regularly smoothed and the peeling rolls of its bark are carefully detached without tearing, a better, smoother bark will result.
Height 8m (26ft), Spread 5m (16ft) in 20 years.
