Cydonia oblonga 'Lusitanica' (Quince)

 

A vigorous, rounded, deciduous shrub or small tree with broadly ovate, dark green leaves, grey-downy beneath and turning yellow in autumn. Solitary, pale pink flowers blooming from the leaf axils in spring are followed by large, fragrant, rounded, edible, grey-downy, bright yellow fruit, full of flavour, ready for harvest in early autumn. Early ripening and generally considered the best flavoured of all quinces.
Height & Spread 4m (13ft), 5-10 years to maturity.
