Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' (Black Cherry Plum)

A pretty, dark foliaged small tree with dark purple leaves. It is very free flowering, the pink flowers, fading with age, come early, during March and April. They precede the leaves, so, after flowering, there is another interlude as the bronzed young foliage emerges.
Height 8m (26ft), Spread 5m (16ft).
