An upright, deciduous shrub or small tree with bright green stems bearing palmate, mid-green leaves divided into five lance-shaped, toothed lobes. Leaves are bright green in spring, turning yellow-orange in autumn. Inconspicuous, green flowers in spring are followed by winged, red-flushed, green seed pods.
Height 2m (6ft), Spread 1.5m (5ft), 10-20 years to maturity.
