Corylus colurna (Turkish Hazel)

 

A large, deciduous tree of conical habit with ovate leaves with serrated margins. In spring, it bears yellow catkins, followed by edible nuts encased by a fringed husk.
Height 15m (49ft), Spread 12m (39ft), 20-50 years to maturity.
