Prunus spinosa
Blackthorn/Sloe

A dense, small tree, commonly used to make a hedge. Its slender, spreading, spiny branches, closely clad in small flowers, make spidery trails of white blossom in March and April. The fruits, which mature in summer, are like small damsons and blue at first with a bloom, maturing to black.
